How to Order a Copy of Your Georgia Driving Record

How to Order a Copy of Your Georgia Driving Record
Along with the immediate effects of your sentence—such as losing your driving privileges, paying hundreds of dollars in fines, and spending time in jail—a Marietta DUI conviction can also lead to a tarnished driving record. What’s more, although your conviction should be removed from your record after a certain amount of time has passed, you may need to order a copy of your Georgia driving record to ensure it does not remain there permanently.

You can request a copy of your driving record by visiting the Department of Driver Services (DDS) in your area, presenting valid ID, and paying the appropriate fee for your copy. Prior to your visit, be sure to call or check online to determine the location’s accepted payment methods.

If you prefer to order your driving record online, you will need to sign up for an account on the DDS website. Once your user name and password are set, you can log into the site to view your record on your computer (a $6 to $8 fee is required). While you can access your record for 30 days after your initial order, keep in mind that such printouts are not official documents. Therefore, they may not be accepted if requested by an insurance company or employer. a

For a certified copy of your driving record, you can mail your payment and letter of request (or a completed DDS-18 form) to the appropriate DDS in your area. Be sure to include your full name, driver’s license number, birthday, and address, along with a self-addressed/stamped envelope with your request. Payments can be made by check, credit card, cashier’s check, or money order.
