Marietta DUI CDL (Commercial Drivers License)

Marietta DUI CDL (Commercial Drivers License)
If you have a commercial driver’s license (CDL), there’s a good chance that your driving privileges are essential for your career. Without your license, you can’t work—and if you’re not working, how can you make a living? Unfortunately, if you’re caught driving under the influence (DUI) in Marietta, that’s exactly what you are up against.

You may think that a DUI arrest can only affect your CDL if you were operating a commercial vehicle at the time of your arrest. However, even if you were driving your own car or any other standard-sized vehicle, your CDL may be suspended if you are convicted of drunk driving.

Although federal law prohibits anyone from operating a personal vehicle with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.08% or more, if you were driving a commercial vehicle at the time of your arrest, you must abide by a 0.04% BAC limit. In other words, you can be charged with DUI for driving a personal vehicle with a BAC of 0.08% or higher, or for operating a commercial vehicle with a BAC above 0.04%.

If you are convicted of DUI, you can expect to lose your driving privileges—regardless of the type of vehicle you were driving at the time of your arrest. Both your personal and commercial driver’s license could be suspended for a year or longer. And, if you have a prior DUI conviction on your record, your CDL could even be suspended for life.

In addition to losing your license, you may also face probation, extensive fines, community service, and jail time if you are convicted of drunk driving. With so much at stake, obtaining legal counsel is of the utmost importance.
