The extent of your punishment will depend largely on the amount of time that has passed since your last DUI conviction. If this is your third conviction within a 10-year period, your sentence may include up to a one-year jail sentence. If the judge is feeling generous, he or she may suspend this sentence in lieu of probation, but under Georgia law, you will be required to spend at least 15 days behind bars. You may face an even longer sentence if only five years have passed since your last DUI conviction.

To top it all off, you must also pay to have your name and picture published in a local newspaper’s listing of convicted drunk drivers.
